Why Write a Blog?

Hi! I have to say that finally putting pen to paper (well, fingers to a keyboard) feels great! This first post truly feels like the start of a journey I am embarking on and I am excited to share my progression and thoughts with anyone who chooses to read this. Within this particular piece, I will explain my reasoning behind choosing this form of expression and in addition what I hope to achieve with it.
So, before I delve into my motivation behind writing, I have to start by explaining how close I have been to doing this in the past. Even when I was younger I always had the ambition of starting a multitude of new hobbies: writing a book, writing a blog or even just reading a book to name a few; but a lack of resilience always seemed to be the issue. I could start a project for a week, or even just a couple of days, but would immediately abandon it as soon as a challenge or something more interesting arose. In doing this, I could never find anything that truly interested me as I did not dedicate enough time to any particular craft, which means that even at the age of 16 I have not found something that I can devote a prolonged time to. In the past this has been difficult to admit, yet having read a book entitled ‘First Man in’, by Ant Middleton - where he explained in detail his obstacles when fighting in the army and dealing with his imperfections - I found that in acknowledging these flaws, you can finally move on from them and find a path towards self-improvement.
This led me to the current day, in which I have once again started a new project and one that I intend to continue. The true reason for beginning this right now is to find something that truly interests me. Now, this doesn’t just mean that I want to develop a new hobby; I want to discover something that I can see myself pursuing in the future. This will unlikely be writing, and I can admit that having a blog will not be something that I will be able to say forever, but in having one now, I can research a variety of topics and subject matters that I will perhaps feel more of a connection to. In particular, I hope to delve into the complexities and mysteries of Physics.
Another determining factor behind the creation of my blog is to document this new, rather daunting, chapter of my life. Over the next six months, I will enter Sixth form, get my first job and begin learning to drive, all of which are intimidating and demanding in their own right; therefore by sharing these experiences I can hopefully alleviate my worries and those of others experiencing the same situation.
One thing I would like to make clear, especially to myself, is that I have no expectations surrounding this blog. I of course would like to maintain a consistent amount of writing and dedication towards this project, however, I do not want this to affect my studies or social interactions and so I will limit the amount of pressure I put upon myself (perhaps in more ways that just regarding my writing and in many more aspects of my life... but that's a topic for another day). My main ambition is to find joy and self-improvement within these posts and so I need to enjoy writing them.
In summary, the purpose of this first post was to explore the question, ‘Why write a blog?’ and I believe that I have done so. From this, I hope that you at least take the idea that we should all strive to do what makes us happy but also what helps us succeed, as not every part of your road to this idea of “success” will be something that you enjoy, which is something I am continuing to learn every day.

Love this ….. very inspired writing!
